Hello
I wish to buy some 16x2 characters LCD displays like the 162J. I need the best readability by low light with backlight switched off, so the background have to be very clear (I mean closest to white).
For example most calculators LCD displays are very good with a light gray background. But many avalaible 16x2 displays have a green background which is too dark.
I'm a bit confused by all the 162x variants and by the LCD technologies (TN, HTN, FSTN). Which one will be the best for that purpose ?
Hi Axel-
Using a reflective polarizer (as opposed to transmissive or transflective) will provide the best performance without a backlight at all. If you plan to use a backlight some of the time, you will want a transflective polarizer.
Our standard character LCD modules come in STN or FSTN. FSTN would be the best option for contrast and provides the light gray background you are referring to. If you need a backlight, I would recommend a white LED backlight. Resulting part number is 162J FCBW-3LP.
Thank you very much, Terry, I'll go for this part !
won't blue fit?
use a PWN made with IC 555 with potentiometer 100K two diodes 1N4148 capacitor between 10nF - 47nF a R1 = 10K and base resistor 82 Ohms with transistor BD137 the colector of the transistor will connect to the K pin and A pin to positive
